In 2015, Road to Paradise was born as a personal blog and photography brand, with a playful nod to my last name (Paradis i.e. Paradise in French). It was once a safe space to write about my own self discovery in a creative way, however, Road to Paradise has become much greater than a container for my story - it has become a space to capture, witness and love on the stories of others. It's become more than I could have ever imagined.
My story, like many other humans, includes chapters of challenge: growing up as a child of divorce, navigating emotional and mental abuse, witnessing alcoholism and drug addiction, murder, and family estrangement. Although these are heavy topics, it illustrates the heart and soul of Road to Paradise, and the reverence I have to treat every human interaction with care and intention.
Road to Paradise is a community. It has the capacity to be gritty and tenacious when called to capture the bowels of grief and pain, and yet it also finds joy in capturing the softer and lighter human moments. Together, this community and I have become a vehicle for human connection, creativity and healing. My gratitude is infinite for the humans have entrusted me to capture the big and the small moments of their life. Being a storyteller is one of my most cherished traits and to have the privilege to capture and share another's story is something I do not take lightly.
At the heart of Road to Paradise, I vow to continue to share my heart, creativity and passion for storytelling, to inspire other souls to share their truths and their hearts. This is one small ripple in creating the world I wish to live - a place of better understanding and compassion. A place where we feel the fullness of connection, presence and safety.
